I recently read over on Facebook the Bruce was ill on the day that TFYL was recorded, so Hank doubled up on rhythm guitar. Hadn't heard that before. Seems a little ironic as its such a great track, and unfortunate for Bruce to miss out playing on it as he wrote it - is it true?

Hello Cliff. Yes, it's true. "Theme For Young Lovers", as well as "Walkin'" were recorded on November 1st, 1963. Bruce did play on "Walkin'", but left halfway through the recording session, leaving Hank, Brian and Licorice to complete the session and so Hank played acoustic rhythm guitar as well as of course electric lead guitar.

I think Bruce had a dental appointment that afternoon.

Incidentally, that session was probably the one witnessed by John Rostill on his first photo-op with the Shadows and Cliff.
