Just found this clip on YouTube...

...of Hank on Razzmatazz (a 1980s kids' pop TV show). Quite interesting; is that a Roland RE 501 he's using? And demonstrating a 'talk tube'!

The little girl playing Greensleeves is really good - reminds me of my primary teaching days!

Very interesting, Hank demonstrating the voice tube - shades of Peter Frampton - perhaps.
I wonder if Hank ever used the voice tube on any recordings?

Thank you for sharing your YouTube discovery.

Cheers
Simon.

I wonder if the Voice Box/Talk Box was used on the instrumental version of 'No No Nina'. Sounds like it to me. Or it could be a Vocoder.

What did he use on 'You are everything' on the Syndicate album?

"Peter Vince's car has cost a lot of money"

George...Chris...I think you're right. The two songs on which Hank used the 'Talk Box' are No, No Nina (the instrumental version - as heard on The Shadows at Abbey Road) and You Are Everything on the Guitar Syndicate LP - the "Peter Vince's car..." was presumably because Peter Vince (who sadly died recently) was smarting from a big car repair bill!

Thank you Lads.
Armed now with these two track references, I'll be planning an expedition to where I stash all things Shadows,
the basement come air raid shelter, to enjoy a revisit to the tracks you mention.

Cheers
Simon.
