Hi there, everyone. I'm a long time rockabilly fan and have been really discovering Hank Marvin as of late. Although, I've dabbled in Surf music here and there, I find myself more drawn to the Ventures and the Shadows. Looking forward to saying hello!

Have you by any chance ever come across this particular compilation album from 1963...?

It was never issued here in the UK and includes a genuine stereo mix of FBI, a track for years long sought after by British devotees of the Shadows. Until more recent times, we had to make do with the original mono mix or an abomination of an electronically processed mess passing for mock stereo! If you should see a copy, best hold on to it.

No, Bill - I haven't see that record, but I will keep an eye out for it. We have a loads of shops in the area.

The Shadows said they had never heard of Surf music when they recorded the tracks on the album, also The Dakotas Cruel Sea was changed to The Cruel Surf.

That's a good way to put it! I sometimes get the same impression.

When talking about F.B.I., I always think it's worth pointing out that it was actually composed by Hank, Bruce and Jet and not Peter Gormley as is commonly stated. I have seen the odd CD here and there where the correct composer credit has been given, but usually it's credited to PG. Worth noting that it was ALWAYS used as the concert-closer for decades and it genuinely did seem as though nothing could follow it! Without a doubt it's one of the Shads' finest pieces of work.

Did anyone see FBI been played on Juke Box Jury with David Jacobs after they voted The Shadows came on.

Hank and Bruce appeared as Juke Box Jury panellists with Vikki Carr and actress, Anneke Wills in April 1967.
