Did hank use a echoplex ? Because it was a very different shadows sound to what we know and love

Hank's sound on this album is somewhat heavier. Maybe this is because of the humbuckers he had fitted at the time on the black Stratocaster.

Was Echoplex the same device that John Martyn used around the same time?
If so, it can be seen during an appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test during 'Discover the lover'.

Hank's Echoplex was just a run of the mill model, that was for sale at that time.
Sure during the years Echoplex changed on tiny details, but the the main part stayed more or less the same.

Early models used valves while later models used transistors.

It's the same as the one in the pic. The one Brian May used with the sliding head.
