Leo's Den are advertising a very interesting new CD to be released very soon, simply called "F.B.I.": https://www.leosden.co.uk/shop/index.php?id_product=2137&controller=product

Some tracks have never appeared on legal releases: the undubbed version of "Happy Birthday To You", the early take of "Guitar Tango" with Jet Harris on bass guitar, BBC radio versions of "Man Of Mystery" and "Perfidia", BBC TV performances of "The Frightened City" and "F.B.I." (both from the "Crackerjack" TV show), "Wonderful Land" from the Royal Variety Performance 1962, "More Than I Can Say" live in Copenhagen in 1961 and a selection of tracks from the Radio Luxembourg radio show "Me And My Shadows".

I shall probably feel obliged to buy this! Interesting that it contains some BBC recordings... could or should these have been on 'The Shadows Live at the BBC' ? Maybe volume 2...??

This is from an ATV TV show. The arrangement of "Perfidia" is the one from their "Out Of The Shadows" album. I guess that the version which will be issued on the new CD, will be the one which was recorded for BBC radio in the same arrangement as The Ventures' version.

Certainly, it would be interesting to hear an arrangement other than the familiar cha cha-type beat I've always associated with the Shadows version.

I have some of these such as the French live recordings but have none of the radio tracks so i'll buy this when i get paid. The radio tracks were supposed to appear on a BBC Live vol 2 so i guess that never got rubber stamped.

When Perfidia was recorded on April 12th 1962, it was Jet on bass. The reason I know this is because twenty years ago I asked Licorice to join me in playing South Of The Border and he explained that he wasn't familiar with it as he wasn't on that track as he hadn't joined the group yet. Perfidia was recorded on the same session.

Because of the so far unreleased material I've put my order into Leo's Den. :)

I just ordered it from Leo's Den. When I get it, I'll put it on my MP3 player as well, so I can listen to it while combing the beaches in Rhodes and Thailand — if that is ever possible again. If not, I'll just listen to it while strolling in the large Central Park next to my flat. Coronavirus doesn't prevent anyone from going outdoors in Finland as long as social distancing is observed.
