Subsequent bassists played it differently from Jet, so I reckon you can do whatever you think best! I slowed down Alan Jones's live intro to half speed before I could work out what I was hearing!

Good luck!

Iain

Hi Iain
Alan jones's Version Is a great version as is mark griffiths Latest Version
i guess as long as you play something similar that fits, thats fine.
but it would be nice to get it spot on, its quite difficult to pickout exactly what is being played.
what software do you use to slow down a track?

Regards
Jay

Which specific version of Willie do you want to master, Jay?

I use Cool Edit Pro, now sold as Adobe Audition. If you don't have it, I'd be very happy to slow down any track for you. If I don't already have it, just email me an mp3.

Cheers - I

I've now listened very carefully to what Alan and Mark did with the bass line in latter days - much the same part in both cases - I'm full of admiration. Are you writing it out, Jay, or just mugging it up?

Hi Iain
Just Learning it at the momment, a lot easier with the edited versions you sent.
still working on it, i have the overall feel sorted, its just tightening it all up
and deciding wether to copy it note for note or getting it close enough and puting my own spin on it?
i should have asked Mr Jones To show me the Bass line, at scarboro last year.

thanks again
Jay

Hi Iain,
Did you ever slow down the bass line of Memory ? I have most of it but there are a few bits I just can't seem to nail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Des.

Hello Everybody,
Following your topic, are you familiar with the software DIGITAL MUSIC MENTOR ? for those who are not this software will analyse a tune, print out the chord structure and tab the bass line. Unfortunately it will not do melody lines but is very useful in difficult situations. Playback can be done on screen allowing you to follow the structure with a moving cursor, printouts can be made which I find very useful if I want to adjust certain note positions to suit my style.
Kindest Regards,
Thumper.
