Several years ago (just before it was rebuilt) I went along to the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton to see Jet Harris + The Rapiers + another 60s solo singer whom I cannot recall. The Rapiers opened with 'Shadoogie' and the Lead Guitarist played it to perfection. Unfortunately Jet Harris came on and spoiled the evening. A little coarse, and at times vulgar, and his playing destroyed any nostalgia I had for him in The Shadows.

Hi Pedro,
I wasn't at the show you mentioned, but I was at eight or nine Shadowmanias and in my view Jet was the star of the show. He cracks jokes and entertains, but vulgar? - maybe in Mary Whitehouse's opinion but I suspect few would agree. I was fortunate enough to spend a weekend in his company last year and found him to be accomodating, considerate and funny. The old saying "you should never meet your heros - you will be dissappointed" is not true of Jet. His bass playing is still first class as is his peronality. I do however agree with your comments re.the Rapiers.
